Occurs naturally in coastal areas of the far south-east of South Australia and adjacent areas of far western Victoria (e.g. the lower Glenelg River).
Medium sized tree with smooth cream coloured branches and large red flowers which hang in sprays on long stalks. Moderately frost hardy. Drought hardy once established. Suits larger gardens as a specimen. Prefers well-drained soils but can adapt to heavier soil types. Full sun. Allow lots of room. Attracts birds and bees.
