Grows naturally in swampy areas of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Many hybrid forms bearing varietal names are available in the nursery trade.
Compact shrub with stiff dark green foliage and large crimson brushes. Frost/drought hardy. Long lived. Adaptable to most soils. Full sun. Suited as a hedge, screen, specimen, can be trained into a small tree by removing branches to expose a single trunk. Attracts birds.
