Occurs only on Hinchinbrook island on the top of Mt Bowen and on the adjacent mainland on the summit of Bishop's Peak growing on gravelly or clay soils.
Large shrub with long curved narrow leaves, red velvety new growth and tall greenish brushes up to 14cm high on long stems. This Banksia is grown for the cut flower trade. Moderately frost and drought hardy. Specimen. Grow in a raised bed to allow good drainage. Prune back stems after flowering. Birds.
