Grows naturally in desert areas across inland Australia.Spreading low annual with long trailing grey hairy branches, greyish green hairy divided leaves and clusters of large distinctive red and black pea flowers on upright stems. Frost sensitive. Very drought hardy. Best grown in a large deep tub with gravel at the base to allow free drainage. Full sun - will not tolerate humidity. Can be grown in a rockery mulched with sand and gravel. Collect seeds after flowering for next year. Sow in early spring by nicking seed coat then soaking in warm water overnight.
