Purple form of this mintbush which grows naturally in woodland and shrubland in sandy loamy soils, often gravelly, overlying sandstone in inland NSW, Victoria and Qld.
Spreading low shrub with narrow hairy grey-green leaves and attractive purple mauve flowers in springtime. Occurs naturally on the western side of the Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes and further south in NSW and Vic. frost and drought hardy. Best grown in a well-drained position in full sun to part shade. Prune lightly after flowering to shape.
